| My name is Chris Riley, and I'm 27, living in the town of Shipley, West Yorkshire.
My passion for creative writing began in school, and from there it grew into powerful visions of my future. I wanted to be a writer, and wanted to be able to write like some of the greats. My first project started in 1995 when I attempted to create a sequel to Jurrasic Park. I didn't have the knowledge or the insight to finish this, so it remains to this day a hand scrawled mass on pages stapled together. In any case, it wasn't long before Michael Critchon had written the sequel (it was fantastic, far better than the film). After that, I set about working on my own project. Anybody who knows my family knows that around this time there were a lot of arguments, and "Family Feuds" sprung from that conflict. It was meant to be a short story to vent my rage, but after just a few pages my ideas began changing and it became my first feature length story (novel if you will). The story gave me an escape route from my problems, and I loved it. As soon as I had finished working on "Family Feuds" I started a second project "The Lockman's Fable", the stories continued pouring out of me, turning into novel manuscripts with ease. In 2003 I moved from Birmingham to Bradford and it was during this time that I met my partner whilst travelling with work in Bristol. When my partner moved up, the writing ground to a halt. I was finally happy, and no longer needed an escape route from reality. It has taken a long time to shake this attitude, and since 2006 I'm back writing for the sheer pleasure it brings me. Over the years, my drafts of novels, novellas and short stories have been piling up on my computer and I thought it was about time to let the world know about them, and, more importantly, let them be read. People I would like to thank at this stage are as follows: Bruce Rimell, my long term partner, who I also have to thank My family for their part and Mrs T. Hopkins, for encouraging me early on. However there have been a number of influences on both my life and my stories. These have been acknowledged as they crop up. To everyone I have known and to everyone I will meet, I thank you for your contribution. |
